Today’s Jamaica Observer newspaper features a casino editorial which speaks about ‘Preparing Jamaica for casino gambling’. An excerpt:
“There is no doubt in our minds that as the Government contemplates plugging the deep hole in the budget, the introduction of casino gaming will become an increasingly attractive option. We, for our part, don’t pretend to be [...]
A proposal by the Government and tourism interests to give all Jamaicans access to the large-scale casino gambling that is to be introduced in western Jamaica soon, has been blasted by University of the West Indies (UWI) academics who said the decision was not informed by the best interests of the country.

Gordon also adopts a somewhat cynical tone, as he encourages the [...]
Today’s editorial in the Gleaner newspaper is aimed straight at those who are against legalizing casinos in Jamaica, from a moral perspective. It encourages Bruce Golding and the rest of the Government to hurry up and bring the proposed casino legislation before parliament, especially since the country has seemingly wasted decades “cowering at the tyranny [...]
If Prime Minister Bruce Golding has his way, casino legislation will be brought before Jamaica’s House of Parliament for debate within just a matter of weeks.
“Just two days ago (November 5), I signed off with the technical team that we had working on the policy issues that had to be resolved in order to facilitate [...]
